My Home

My family lives in a rural house. There is in the small village named Alexandrov. The village is so small that I usually reach to the shop or school where I work about five minutes.  There is also a kindergarten and a rural health post nearby. There is no park here, but you can walk to the river. It is narrow but what a beautiful view! In winter the river freezes over and many fishermen come here to fish.

Our house was built by my husband’s grandfather in 1970. There is even a Russian wood stove preserved here. Of course, we have a gas stove and a microwave oven, but sometimes it is nice to light a wood-burning stove. A pleasant warmth and smell comes from it. In winter evenings the whole family gathers around the table near a stove. We have tea with pies and talk about sundry matters. We meet guests and celebrate all holidays here.

Except the dining room with a Russian stove there is a living room and two bedrooms in our house. One bedroom is for children and the other is for me and my husband. I have two sons, fourteen and two years old. Therefore, there is a place for a desk and for toys in their room.

By the way there is a yard around the house. I like to grow different flowers here. There are several apple, pear, cherry and plum trees in our orchard. Every summer I cook fruit jams and compotes. We grow some vegetables in our greenhouse. There is a garage for our car and my husband’s tools near our house. But most of all, my husband likes to do carpentry at his workshop. He made the furniture for our kitchen himself. The computer desk was also made by his hands.

Someone would say that my house is old-fashioned and not big enough. Yes, it doesn't have a second floor, pool and sports ground. But I love my house very much because it is cozy and it has everything I need.
