What can you say about Hamlet, the main character of “Hamlet, Prince of Denmark"?

Hamlet- is the main character of a tragedy which written by William Shakespeare. He is the Prince of Denmark and the protagonist. About thirty years old at the start of the play, Hamlet is the son of Queen Gertrude and the late King Hamlet, and the nephew of the present king, Claudius. Hamlet is melancholy, bitter, and cynical, full of hatred for his uncle’s scheming and disgust with his mother, because she got married with the killer of his father. He is reflective and thoughtful young man who has studied at the University of Wittenberg, which was in Germany. Hamlet is often indecisive and hesitant, but at other times prone to rash and impulsive acts.

Actually Hamlet is arguably the greatest dramatic character ever created. He is full of faults. He uses the fragile and innocent Ophelia as an outlet for his disgust towards the queen, and cannot comprehend that his own vicious words have caused her insanity.

Hamlet cannot forget his father, even when all those around him have resumed their merry lives, content to offer the occasional conciliatory words of wisdom. His tremendous grief is intensified by this lack of feeling by those around him, and more significantly, by the cold-hearted actions of his mother, who married her brother-in-law within a month of her husband's death.

Hamlet is an extremely intriguing and complex character that appears to change with every different perspective.

Shakespeare has done an absolutely fantastic job with capturing true human characteristics with Hamlet. Hamlet bounces back and forth with his emotions so inconsistently that one never knows what he is about to do next. One moment he is rational, and the next he is not. One moment he wants to plan things out, and then he does things spur of the moment. Shakespeare captures Hamlet’s character in such an essence that just when one feels like he or she knows Hamlet, he changes. The more one reads the text the more Hamlet comes to life and evolves.

In conclusion I would like to add that Hamlet displays all the forms, moods and shapes of grief. He is a very unique, individual and handles many situations in unusual ways.
