Many people think that the word “hero” is used towards people who commit various heroic actions. We learn about brave people from newspapers, magazines, books, films, and TV programmes. We are proud of them. I think our time is also rich in heroism.

It is often said that everyone has their own ideals. As for me I have my own hero who is neither a policeman, nor a veteran. My hero is Russian cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin. It is a well-known fact that Yuri Gagarin was the first cosmonaut in the world who flew into space and spent 108 minutes there. One must admit that when he came back in his spaceship Vostok, he was made a Hero of the Soviet Union and awarded the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star Medal.

Maybe you are interested in why I decided to choose this hero. Well, there are some reasons. Firstly, I think everyone has heard of Yuri Gagarin, so one can easily agree or disagree with my opinion. Secondly, he had good features of character as well as weaknesses, thus he was not a typical “prince charming” but a real person. Thirdly, I admire his personality. We know how courageous and brave common people were.

As for me, the most important quality in Yuri was his ability to overcome problems and difficulties. He never gave up and always did what he thought was better.

In conclusion, I can say that Russian cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin became a world hero. And although he died but he will be always dearly remembered in Russia and in many other corners of the globe. Yuri Gagarin is rightly called a great man. His name became a symbol of heroism and courage, opened the way to new opportunities in space exploration. Thus the memory of Yuri Gagarin as the legendary and brave man, the first cosmonaut of the planet, will forever remain in the memory of people.
