Write a report on language in your country

I would like tell about languages in my country. I live in Russia. State official language is Russian and I am a native speaker of Russian language. But Russia is a multinational country and my country has twenty two republics. Different nationalities live here and every nationality has its language but at the same time most of them know Russian language.

There are thirty seven national languages and fifteen languages have an official status in Russia. So in our country there are four basic language groups. They include: Indo-European (eighty nine percent), Altaic (seven percent), Caucasian (two percent), Ural (two percent). As for the current official languages, there are Tatar, Bashkir, Ukrainian, and Armenian. Outsider language is Siberian, because a small nationality group live there. Some languages are similar to Russian language. So people can speak with and understand each other. Russian can understand Belarusian, Tatar and understand Bashkir, because of such language is from one language group. Russia is a big country, and many dialects came here. State official language has free dialects: northern, southern and medium Russia.

I speak southern dialects, because I live in the south of Russia. And when I travel in Russia I observe a lot of different dialects and some things are called different, in different region. Also Russian’s schoolchildren and students a long times learn foreign languages. Most current foreign languages are English, French, Germany and Spanish. Also schoolchildren and students enable to learn China language. China language is very useful and trendy, because Russian-China contacts are developing.

It is difficult to say what language people speak in Russia, because Russia is a multinational country and there are a lot of different dialects and adverb.
