What can you say about Hamlet, the main character

Shakespeare’s Hamlet was written and performed in the final years of Queen Elizabeth’s reign. The play mirrors the period of those great changes. Shakespeare showed “spiritual” disguise in Hamlet, fierce criticism of the society to point out problems of those days. Hamlet is an ideal, representative man of Renaissance. The Prince of Denmark is the title character. He is about 30 years old at the start of the play. He is melancholy, bitter, full of hatred for his uncle’s scheming at the same time he is reflective and thoughtful young man who has studied at the University of Wallenberg. Hamlet spends much time of his time deliberating rather than doing. Shakespeare uses Castle Elsinore and environs to depict depressing place where incest and murder are a part of normal life where revenge is commonplace motivation strategy. The death of Hamlet’s father is a breaking point for the Prince. Hamlet does not become King. His brother has succeeded him as King of Denmark and also as a husband of Queen Gertrude. Prince is alone in mourning for his late King. Hamlet feels his mother betrayed the memory of his father. A Ghost closely resembling the late King appears at the castle. He commands to avenge his murder. Hamlet vows to undertake the task. Hamlet starts to behave oddly. He pretends madness. It becomes difficult to decide whether or not he is really mad. He disguised his behavior to pretend being a madman in order to learn the truth about his father’s death. Hamlet wants to be sure himself whether the Ghost told the truth and he sets up the players’ performance and believes that Claudius reaction will indicate his guilt. After the confirmation of the Ghost’s testimony he was ready to “drink hot blood”. Hamlet’s indecisiveness caused many unexpected and grievous events. Polonius was killed Ophelia committed suicide. Hamlet couldn’t live like Claudius Polonius and other courtiers who told lies, feigned and adjusted to the world of evil. He couldn’t put up with this world, but he didn’t know how to fight, to win and to destroy evil.
