My Future Profession

Upon completion of training, I, like most people, will not go to work in my specialty.

To get started, I'll get a job as a waiter, on a 2/2 schedule. And one weekend I will earn extra money in other ways. Perhaps I will distribute leaflets, earn extra money by courier, half-rate bartender or barista.

After I return my mother’s debt for study, I’ll start saving for university tuition for higher education, but in a different specialty.

Here is what is written about the waiters in the All-Russian classifier, which sets the standards for workers of various professions: “Waiters serve food and drinks to the table in restaurants, bars, cafes and clubs, including on board ships and in passenger trains.” The same document also spells out the responsibilities of such employees:

  • Cover the tables with a clean tablecloth, cutlery, plates and utensils.
  • Greet visitors, serve them a menu and a list of drinks.
  • Give advice when choosing food and drink.
  • Take orders and transfer them to the kitchen or bar staff.
  • Serve customers food and drinks.
  • To clean the tables and return dishes and utensils to the kitchen.
  • Billing, accepting payments, working with terminals and cash registers.

To work as a waiter, you need a medical book. Judging by the vacancies, work experience is often optional - employers are ready to teach everything. Of the bonuses - they feed, and sometimes even take them home by taxi. And you can find a place with a convenient schedule: work day after three, or two twelve-hour shifts after two, or three after three. Or go out only in the morning, or even at night. It is also convenient to work as a waiter, for example, on weekends.

The average salary of a waiter in 2019 in our country is 40,000 rubles. per month. However, these statistics are not applicable for all cases, so you should more closely deal with the situation. The amount of earnings consists of several factors:

  1. Institution class. In the case of employment in a premium restaurant or VIP, the income can reach 100 or more thousand. Naturally, the waiter’s salary at McDonald's or any other instant café will not be able to reach that level. Here values vary from 10,000 to 30,000 rubles, depending on the region.
  2. Address location of the institution. First of all, this applies to the city. The income of a waiter in Moscow or St. Petersburg is an order of magnitude higher than in settlements of an average in Russia and even Moscow Region (when comparing a salary in one company). In addition, you should consider in which part of the city there is a restaurant or cafe. Elite establishments may not always be in the center, it may be a country club or a cottage village.
  3. An important role is played by the target audience, which the institution is aimed at. The income of the waiter in Moscow in a student cafe will not exceed 50,000 rubles. in the maximum equivalent. Most often, this is a small salary and an additional bonus part based on the total income of the restaurant.
  4. Professional and communication skills and abilities of the employee. The more he pays attention to customers and seems friendly and welcoming, the higher the tip may turn out to be.
  5. Seasonal direction most often plays a role in resort areas. The highest income peak here refers to the beach season. Most of the Black Sea establishments expand their staff in the summer, opening additional vacancies.

Such work would not be a bad decision. It will allow me to effectively spend time on earnings, hobbies and independent study of many other really interesting things.

I will be able to work and earn extra money, take care of myself physically, mentally and spiritually. I will have time for walks with friends, and on my personal affairs.
