Mark Twain

The author - Mark Twain is a brilliant wordsmith with a great sense of humor. One of his frequent subject of consideration in his works is lies. The author aim is to show to readers that not always lies are harmful and awful, vice versa, it can be good in some particular circumstances.

The story made a good impression and made think about two crucial issues, below I will tell about them.

On the one hand, I was convinced once again that it is not necessary to judge by the cover, we should pay more attention to the content. The artist’s paintings were bought only after they were presented as famous artist’s works, even if buyers have never heard of such an artist before. But in fact, the value of the picture does not lie in the fact that by whom it was written, but in fact what is depicted in the picture, what is the quality of the work, what techniques are used to paint the picture. If a person is poorly known, it does not mean that he is untalented.

On the other hand, this story is very instructive, it teaches us not to give up, even in the most difficult situations there is a way out, the main thing is to try to take some steps to come up with it. The story tells of four starving artists who are frantically trying to find a way of making a living, finally they manage a situation with confidence. They had a successful idea, artists tried out a well-known statement that death often makes the author or artist famous, while he or she could not somehow achieve this status in life.

In conclusion I want to say that I liked the story, because it wasn’t just pleasure to read it, but also made me think that we do not appreciate true talents while they live, that lying in some cases can be good and save lives. Furthermore, we need to pay more attention to the essence, not to vanity title and nice cover.
