What characteristics do you think natural leaders have?

What characteristics does the natural leader have? Today it is generally accepted that this person is responsible, risky, ambitious and pliable. Besides, he should have a will to win and a wish to have power. And he should use power not for his own needs but for improving the situation in the country and for achieving definite aims.

To my mind natural leaders are born. And we can recognize them right away. However, to be a real leader is difficult. This is a talent given at birth. Firstly, the great leader always has to be smart, to be on guard. He has to be able to change course, tactics. The great leader has to be self-confident to make sure his business will survive, and then find a new way to reach his goals. Having courage and energy, tenacity and patience to keep fighting until he wins the day are the main characteristics of the successful leader.

Secondly, communicative skills are important, too. The natural leaders are great orators. They left their strength and personal character show through in their communication.

Thirdly, the natural leader has to be able to work with people together. He is usually the center of a group of people. He is positive and friendly. To my mind, he doesn't try to lead. As the Welsh proverb says: "He that would be a leader must also be a bridge". There is a great deal in these words. On the other hand, the true leader should be able to take non- traditional or just ruthless decisions and to give up some people from his team. He can change them and forget how hard it was.

A politician who follows one and the same strategic line and doesn’t revise his own ideas won't live a long life in politics.

I completely agree with the statement that everybody can try to develop some natural traits of a good leader, such as hard-working skills, a sense of humor, sociability, confidence to solve problems. But no image-maker can heln a person who is nothing. Image-makers and advisors can add only 15-20% to the image of a politician. Certainly leadership is a skill. I think mixture of necessary knowledge with the right practice is a good way to learn to be a successful leader.

In conclusion, I would like to say that if you want to make change in the world, if you want other people to think and to act differently, you are a natural leader, aren’t you?
