Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts

The founder and the first director of the museum was Ivan Tsvetaev who dreamed of creating a fine arts museum in Moscow. The museum was opened in 1912 but in 1937 it was named after the poet back and today, the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts in Moscow bears the name of the most famous Russian poets – Alexander Pushkin.

In the main building you can see works of art from ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome, medieval, renaissance and modern Europe as well as authentic paintings, sculptures, graphics and works of applied and decorative arts.

In the Gallery of 19th and 20th Century European and American Art, you can see paintings by French impressionists, post-impressionists and artists of the early 20th century including Claude Monet, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Vincent Van Gogh, Pablo Picasso and others.

You can see in another department of the State Museum of Fine Arts. A.S. Pushkin private collections that own more than 30 private collections donated to the museum after the 1980s.

Admission tickets can be purchased online one month before the date of the visit. All categories of admission tickets are available, including reduced-fare and free tickets. A free ticket can be acquired online only when the order includes a paid ticket.
