“In Another Country

Life can bring different hardships. Dealing with them can be difficult. Ernest Hemingway described events during the World War I in his work “In Another Country”. The events and actions of the characters were not written by chance. Ernest Hemingway described his thoughts, the world around, when he was in the hospital with injuries.

"In Another Country" is a story about a war and about those for whom it had ended. It is about people who were forced to leave the battlefield due to serious injuries. The protagonist of this story, like Ernest Hemingway himself during the war, seriously injured his knee. In the past he was an athlete, was playing football. And there were many such people in the hospital. They all dreamt that they would get better and return to their previous lives. One of the heroes of the story, the major, being treated in the hospital, suffered a heavy loss. His wife died suddenly. I suppose the major suffered this event steadily. It was very difficult for him, in fact, exactly what he was so afraid of was happening - the loss of what he was so afraid of losing. Perhaps the image of the major was also written off from the life of Ernest Hemingway. He had a difficult personal life: unrequited love, four wives, each divorce caused a lot of pain to the writer. The major in the story "In Another Country" voiced the pessimistic thoughts of the writer: "A man cannot marry. He may loss everything. He must find things in his life which he cannot lose." But unfortunately, there is nothing that cannot be lost.

This is a difficult story. The fate of people who survived hostilities, survived personal losses, touches to the core. The work “In Another Country” opened the atmosphere of people's lives during the First World War and the difficult fate of the writer himself.
