How would you describe Jimmie Langton? Dwell upon his looks and typical behavior. What were the circumstances of Jimmie and Julia’s acquaintance?

After reading The Theater by Somerset Maugham, I would say that Jimmy Langton was a rather unusual and interesting person. He was an experienced, practical, and eccentric person from whom energy flowed in powerful currents.

As for, directly, his acting, he loved to play, however, as an actor he was very bad, and his external data were far from ideal. He was a fat, bald, red-cheeked man who was about 45 years old. Because of this, it was very difficult for him to find suitable roles.

In real life, he behaved too pretentiously, mannered, constantly emphasizing his every word. However, during rehearsals with his troupe, pretense faded into the background. He was a professional, because he could notice any falsity, although he himself did not do everything perfectly.

However, he completely devoted himself to his profession. If he did not like something, then he squeezed all the juices out of the actors until it was perfect. And if everything was fine, then emotions were reflected on his face - tears, laughter, anger, anger, joy. In other words, he was a real pro in the profession, he jumped off the page and opened windows of opportunity for his performers, and the incendiary performances of his plays were in the spotlight and well expressed.

As for Julia's acquaintance with Jimmy, their meeting took place after one of her performances. Julia played a forty-year-old woman in the play, which interested Jimmy, and after the performance he went backstage to get to know her, and then invited her to lunch. At lunch he was quite rude, however, he did not forget to point out the merits, but nevertheless, he very much criticized her. Therefore, he invited her to go to him to teach everything and make a real star out of her.

To summarize, we can say that Jimmy Langton had a controversial reputation. He was a scoundrel, eccentric, vain, and rude man. However, everyone respected him, because he was responsible for his words and put all of himself into the work, so his productions were a great success.
