Hamlet, Prince of Denmark

It will be about the main character of Shakespeare's tragedy “Hamlet, Prince of Denmark”. Hamlet is a King Hamlet's and Queen Gertrude's son. After the King Hamlet died the new King became his uncle Claudius.

Hamlet was frightened at his mother having incestuous relations and got married to his uncle very soon after his father died.

At the beginning of the tragedy, it seemed to me that Hamlet was a sensitive, deep-thinking young man.

All his life has changed, when the ghost of his father told him, that his uncle Claudius had cruelly murdered him. Hamlet promised his father that he would avenge this murder. Hamlet becomes almost suicidal and obsessed with revenge. Unlike Laertes, when Hamlet found out about the murder of his father, he rolled up into a shell. Doubts tormented him, suddenly it’s not his father’s ghost. He is indecisive and questions his own motives and the fears the consequences of his actions. Although Laertes did not hesitate to move on to action. But in the act when he murdered Polonius, he did not feel remorse or regret. This situation showed us the cruelty of his character. Hamlet, like many people, suffers from contradictions in life. He is both reckless and cautious, heartless and sensitive.

Ophelia’s death made him even more lonely. This led to disappointment in life. Loneliness can to drive a person insane. When you pretend to be someone, you sooner or later can become him. In moments of despair, he constantly wondered “To be, or not to be, that is the question.”

In my opinion, Hamlet was a weak character, because he was slowly making decisions. His constant thoughts about the correctness of his actions extended his revenge for his father. And he knew about that, that’s why it made him more frustrated. He criticized himself for this weakness and couldn't do anything. Human beings do understand and accept their weaknesses but not everyone can make their weakness a strong trait.
