My future career plan

In my past career I actively participated in several startups in the beauty industry. I may even say I launched them as I was the lead or one of the lead managers in those projects. They say I am good at communicating with people - making new contacts and keeping them. This is because I really like people – good people, of course.

Half of those startups turned out to be successful and still exist. And I think I worked well and hard and contributed to their success.

One may wonder why I am not a general director of one of them. Hard to tell. I heard that very often the teams in startups change more than once. The common truth is that the main investor’s opinion always dominates. That is money makes decisions. Unfortunately for me Investors preferred their friends, relatives or other close and loyal people to take over the projects when they entered a stable stage. This is the business culture here now. And there is not much I can do about it.

Basically there is only one thing I can do – start my own project. It is hard for two reasons:

• It requires money I do not have now, but investors almost always take over control when the business grows ( see the previous text);
• I may need partners, but experienced people say that partners often quarrel and split at any stage.

The rest does not scare me much. I am a hard worker and I tend to think I know much about beauty industry.

Yet in reality, I don't really even know how to get started, to make a business efficient, or even to make the first steps.

There are so many questions when I think about this issue really.

I want to know where to start, and how to grow a business, keep it profitable, and not risk my future on an idea I think may work. But there is always a chance it will not!

I hope I can overcome my fears through studies.

Starting a business involves planning, making financial decisions and completing a series of legal activities, creating a business plan.

I never really thought about this, until seeing it. They say a plan is the most important part. The business plan helps the owner with forming the entire layout of the business.

Also very important are the HR skills and labor legislation.

One can get in trouble without knowledge of tax and other reporting rules.

All this is both skills and knowledge. Knowledge I hope to get in classes.

Skills, unfortunately, one acquires through practice and mistakes.

I sincerely hope that my past startup experience in the industry and new knowledge will help me some day with a new start and I finally will work for myself.
